What is a Giclee Print?

A giclee (pronounced zhee-clay) is a fine art print created by scanning an original piece of artwork into a computer file, making appropriate color adjustments and then printing it onto high quality, acid-free art paper or heavyweight canvas with a specially calibrated, large-format 8-color ink jet printer. Giclee, which translates from the French, “to spray,” is the latest technology in printmaking creating amazingly crisp images that rival serigraphs costing hundreds of dollars more. The quality of the print is far superior to traditional offset lithography in all respects and the edition size is generally much lower, making giclees an investment for the art collector.

All the prints of artworks and photographs presented by David and Susanne are made with the giclee process and will impress you immensely with their intense, rich colors and sensous surface finishes.

A giclee print should not be confused with traditional reproductions, because each direct digital print has its own unique value and, in fact, is not merely a reproduction.
